A brief introduction
Hello followers, as you may have gathered my name is Alexandra Bramwell, but I prefer to go by Alex. This blog is going to be all about my study abroad experience in Madrid, Spain! I am so excited to have an out of country experience and expand my cultural and Spanish language knowledge. For as long as I can remember, my parents have been encouraging me to participate in a study abroad experience. As my father so wisely stated, "Everyone needs to do go somewhere where they do the wrong things and speak the wrong language." That being said, I chose to go to Spain, because although I have taken five years of Spanish throughout my schooling, I am still not completely fluent and feel that full immersion in a Spanish-speaking country would be the best way to make this shift. Luckily, I was accepted to the Madrid, Spain study abroad program through the college that I currently attend, Brigham Young University. Among other things, this university is extremely well known for their successful and diverse study abroad programs. I am confident that my Spanish will greatly improve because of this excursion, and I cannot wait for the life changing experiences that are in store for me. Although I created this blog to be a medium for my experiences in Spain, I may have a few posting leading up to my departure on August 23rd 2012 regarding significant preparations or milestones that pertain to my overall experience. Today, I purchased my round trip ticket from Boise to Madrid, setting my trip in stone. I still cannot believe this is real, I am going to Spain in less than six months! More posts to come, enjoy! :)
